Etymology

v. tun . The first element may be a pers. name Wranga , cf. Osbert Wrange 1182 P. Here, however, and in Wrangworthy (supra 134), it is equally possible that we have the OE  adjective wrang , 'crooked, twisted,' from which this pers. name is derived. Cf. on wrangan hylle BCS 832, and Wrangeheygh (1511Newnham ).
