Etymology

Persistent utt in the early forms of this name must lead us to associate it with Sotwell (Berks), Suttan wille BCS 810, and Suttanurde (BCS 864). All alike point to an obscure Sutta as a pers. name. Later some of the spellings show association with South -names like Sutton.
