Etymology

The adj. strang , 'strong,' can hardly have been applied to a hill and it is probable that we have to do with a pers. name Stranga . The weak adj. stranga may have been used as a pers. name of the nickname type, cf. the well- attested and early OE  Stronglic , Stranglic in which the adj. in fuller form is used as a pers. name. We may note that the adj. tūnlic , i.e. 'rustic,' was similarly used in early days.
