Historical Forms

  • Colacote 1571 SR

Etymology

If this is a proper place-name, the meaning is 'Cola 's cot(e),' but since the second element cot(e) is found nowhere else in the South Hams, it is highly probable that the name is of manorial origin, deriving from a man who came from one of the numerous Collacotts in North Devon.
