Etymology

It is doubtful if it is identical with Ledencomb 1595Ct , Leden combe 1595 Dartmoor, Ludon Comb 1584 (ib.), Ludden Comb 1585 (ib.).The last twro forms may refer to Luddon about three miles distant but also in the parish. Leden may be a stream-name (Cc ledan , W  llydan , 'broad'). Cf. RN 242.
