Etymology

'Stony valley,' v. cumb . Gilbert Crespin held the manor in 1242 and by 1333 it had passed to Nicholas Dauney (DA 43, 217). The adjacent manor of Stancombe in Harberton was held by Henry Prior in 1242 (Fees 790), v. supra 327.
