Probably 'Æþelbeorht 's farm,' v. tun . Cf. Aylburton (PN Gl 13). For the absence of a genitival s , cf. Wiverton supra 251; or it may be, as the earliest form is dated 1254, that the original form was Aeþelberhtingtun , v. ingtun .
