Etymology

Cf. also Derrill and Derriton infra 163, 164, Byrhsige Dyrincg (BCS 1064) and (to ) dyran treowe (BCS 721). All these contain as first element a pers. name Dȳra or Dīera (v. Redin 47). This survived in Devon into ME  times, a John Dyra and a Peter Dira appearing in the Bishop's Registers 1308–1310.
