Etymology

This is a Celtic p.n. identical with Landighe 1086 DB, Landegai 1202 P, Landegeye 1235 Ch, Landeke 1265 FF, the old name of Kea (Co). The first element is Co  lan , 'church' (W  llan ). The second is the saint's name, Cai (NSB 20), preceded by the pronoun corresponding to Co  te , 'thy,' commonly used as a term of endearment.
