Etymology

'Hollow valley,' v. holh , cumb . In DB it was held by one Rogo ; Simon, son of Rogo , gave Holcombe Church to Montacute Priory c. 1160 and Jordan fil. Roges held the manor in 1238 (Ass ). For land scare , cf. Landskerry supra 215.
