Etymology

Further forms for the second element are unnecessary. For the first element may be noted Ecke -1242 Fees 789, 1261 Exon, Hecke -1275 RH, Exon, Eke -1279 Ipm, 1291 Tax, Heke -1284 FA, Eccke -1308–14 Exon, Egge -1340SR .

v. bocland . There is no reason to doubt that the distinctive first element is derived from Hece (Exch DB Heche ), who held the manor TRE (Exon DB f. 327 b ). The OE  form of his name was probably Ecca , with inorganic h in DB.
