Etymology

This probably contains the same pers. name Dæcca as Dagenham (Ess), Dæccanhaam BCS 81. Hence 'Dæcca 's valley.'Dæcca would be a shortened form of Dǣdica , a pet form of one of the OE  names in Dǣd . Cf. Dedic , Tadica (Förstemann PN 387–8).
