Etymology

v. bocland . Monachorum refers to the monks of the abbey founded here in 1278. bocsætena higweg must refer to a 'hay (waggon) road' used by the inhabitants of Buckland. For sæte , cf. s. n. Broadwas (PN Wo 103).
