Etymology

'Farm of Mogga or Mugga', v. -ing-, tūn . The OE  pers.ns. Mogga and Mugga are unrecorded in independent sources in OE  but would be related to Mocca and Mucca , cf. Mogworthy (PN D 390).For such pairs cf. Lugworthy (PN D 180). Mugginton was formerly a separate parish.
