Etymology
Coxbench is perhaps 'cock's slope', v. cocc 2 , benc , though the OE nickname Coc (c ) might also be considered. The geographical distribution of DB names suggests that Coxbench may be the site of the DB Herdebi 'herd farm', v. heord , bȳ .
