Etymology

'Brook farm', v. brōc , tūn ; cf. West Broughton infra 550. It is worthy of note that, whilst the earliest references to Church are in the native form (v. cirice ), later ones are from ON  kirkja. The manor was held by Alfred de Suleny 1211–3 Fees.
