Etymology

Probably 'Brēme's farm', v. -ing-, tūn , rather than 'the farm of Brēme's people', as suggested by Ekwall (DEPN), only a single form -ingeton having been noted. For this rare OE pers.n. cf. Bromsgrove (PN Wo 336–7), Bramses (PN Sx 490–1).
