Etymology

'Bubba's hill', v. hyll ; cf. Bubbenhall (PN Wa 158–9) and for the same pers.n. Bupton infra 581. The DB form is presumably an error.The Basset family held land in Baslow and Bubnell at an early date, cf. Simon Basset 1195 P.
