Etymology
Cf. Curmault Well , Carmault Well 1742Brayton . The name is recorded too late for certain interpretation, but Sir Ifor Williams suggests Welsh caermollt , 'fort of the wether'. Carmalt , Kirmalt , infra 455, also late recorded, may have the same origin.
