This is a British hill-name. Cf. OWelsh  carrecc , 'rock,' Welsh  carreg , Co carrec (in place-names such as Tregarrick), identical with Cark in Cartmel (PN La 197) and Carrick (Ayrshire) (PN Scot 127).
