Linked with this is the adjacent Rannerdale in Brackenthwaite parish, Ranerdall 1508Cocker , and Ranerthwate 1507 ib. Ravenerhals is hrafn-erg -hals , 'raven shieling pass' (v. erg , hals ). For the other two names. v. dalr and þveit .
