Etymology

'Farm of the Irishmen', from Íri (gen. Íra ) and býr , with hall , hǣð and hyll , cf. Irbymill Hill infra . The early forms show confusion between býr and burh , cf. Greasby 291infra . Irby Hall was Manor Farm 1831 Bry (cf. The Rookery infra ), and at Irby Heath was Heath Houses 1831 Bry.
