Etymology

'Tāta's farm', from the OE  pers.n. Tāta and tūn. The township is almost entirely included within Tatton Park, in which was The Green (lost, 101–760812) 1831 Bry, the original site, near Old Hall, of the hamlet removed to New Tatton infra , cf. Old Hall, Mill Pool Wood infra .
