Etymology

Hasulhurst (lost), Hasulhurst more 1430AddCh , Heselhurstescloh (e ), Haselhurstescloh (e )e13 Orm2, Helhurst c.1230 Tab, Haselhurst 13 ib, 1333 ChRR (p), (le ) Hasulhurst 1393 ib (p), Hasilhurst 1404 Pat (p), 'the hazel-wood hill', v. hæsel , hyrst . This is located 'between the vill of Knutsford and the park of Tatton' (AddCh 37233). The moor is mora e13 Orm2 i424, v. mōr 1 . The valley (v. clōh ) contains Tatton Mere, cf. Orm2 i423–4 (12, 16). Cf. Hazelhurst Fm 67infra .
