le Tolstok 1294(v. tol-stok, cf. le Tolstok 1316–17Plea, quoted in NED s.v. toll-stock, for which this is an earlier instance.NED conjectures that this is the same as toll-pin'a handle for a toll-dish'. Itcould have been a stocc'a stump, a pillar', at which tolls were levied onsalters at the Nantwich wīc, v. toln, cf. Banners Stoope 2 246)
