Etymology

'Coppa's nook', from an OE  pers.n. Coppa and halh (dat.sg. hale ), cf. Copenhaleeues (e )247infra . The affix is cirice 'a church', this being the church township, cf. Chirchetonfeld infra . Cf. Monks Coppenhall 26infra .
