Etymology

'Cēola's wood or clearing', from the OE  pers.n. Cēola and lēah, as in Brooks Mill 395, with grēne 2 . The T - spellings probably represent a pronunciation [ts-] < [tʃ-], whereas S (c )h - represents [ʃ-] < [tʃ-].
