Etymology

'Alder grove', v. alor , bearu . This may be the two acres covered with alders mentioned in 1350, Orm2 i 554n. The house was demolished early this century, Sheaf3 32 (7179). It was in Ashley Rd between Cambridge Rd and Murieston Rd. Ollerbarrow Rd joins the other end of Cambridge Rd.
