Oldfield (101–7588), Aldefeld c.1293 AD, le Oldefeld 1296 Orm2 (p), le Oldefelde 1550 ChRR, Pat, le Oldfeelde 1602 Orm2, Oldfeld 1354 BPR (p), cf. Ham Oldfield 1838TA , 'the old field', from ald and feld . The prefix Ham is also found in Christleton 325infra , denoting the nucleus of the hamlet, v. hām .
