Etymology

'Farm on a hillock', from klakkr and tūn or tún , cf. DEPN, and Claughton La 162, 178. The manor house of Claughton (Claughton Farm 1824Lawton , Claughton Farm House 1831 Bry, Claughton 1842 OS) stood at approximately 100–305887 at the junction of Park Rd West and Park Rd South. Part of the land belonging to this farm adjoining the Oxton boundary was in Woodchurch parish, v. 307supra . Claytongrange is Grange infra .
