Swettenham

Parish in the County of Cheshire

Etymology

The parish of Swettenham contained the townships 1. Kermincham, 2. Swettenham (now a c.p. including Kermincham). It appears to have been taken out of Astbury parish 285infra , for it is not separately mentioned in Tax, v. Orm2 iii21, 72, ChetOS viii260 n.2. Kermincham was in Hamestan (Macclesfield) Hundred DB, cf. 222supra , and since Swettenham lies north of R. Dane, between Kermincham and Macclesfield Hundred, it was probably in the same Hundred.
