Etymology

The ecclesiastical parish of Bowdon consisted of 1. Altrincham (now a Municipal Borough and c.p., including Timperley infra and part of Dunham Massey), 2. Ashley, 3. Baguley (a few fields of which lay in Northenden parish; it is now included in Manchester County Borough La), 4. Bowdon, 5. Carrington, 6. Dunham Massey, 7. Hale (formerly including Ringway), 8. Partington, 9. Ringway, and 10. Timperley (now included in Altrincham c.p.), and parts of Agden 42infra , Ashton on Mersey 3supra , and Bollington 43infra .
