Etymology

Hoback Fm is Holbeke (next the Comon Ree )1512Hardwicke . This is named from the Hobeck Ryddye 1593Christ 's , Holback Ridye , the river Hoeback 1836EnclA , apparently the small stream flowing near the farm to the Cam. Cf. Hoback Fm supra 68 and Gransden Brook supra 6. Ryddye is OE  rīðig, 'small stream.'
