Etymology

Probably, as suggested by Ekwall (DEPN), 'lamb-nook' or 'lamb- valley,' from OE  *ēan , 'lamb.' Cf. OE  geēan , 'with lamb,' ēanian , 'to yean,' and v. healh . Cf. also Kings and Knights Enham (Ha), Eanham 1008 Laws, and Studies 70–1.
