There were manors of Nether and Upper or Over Weld.The earliest clear reference to this that has been noted is in the name of 'Henry de la Welde near Wyeng' (1325 Cl). v. weald . The same Henry is apparently referred to as Henry de Walda in 1316 (Pat). v. Introd. xxiii.
