v. hlinc . Lince is a French spelling of this word (cf. Linslade supra ) but it is inpossible to say whether it or Lynch is the genuine form here. lince is a common local term applied to old terraces of cultivation, cf. 'The Linces' on Westend Hill near Cheddington.
