Etymology

There is some evidence for an OE  pers. name Wīda , and this seems to be an -ingdun name derived from that pers. name, hence 'Wida's hill,' cf. ingtun, or it may be OE  Widga , hence 'Widga's hill.' The topography favours a dun .
