Etymology

This is probably from OE  Fyglan -græf , 'Fygla's græf,' v. græf .The pers. name *Fygla is found in Fyling (Y), Fillingham (L) and Figheldean (W). Already in DB the g of Fygla has dis- appeared in two out of the three forms for Fillingham. For the r , v. IPN 106. Originally divided into Lower and Upper Filgrave, alternatively known as Great and Little.
