Etymology

A manorial name. In 1346 (FA) John de Huntercombe holds half a knight's fee in Burnham, but the family were already in Bucks in 1262 (Ass ). The manor is called Undercombe in 1422 (IpmR) and Hundercombe in 1489 (ib.). The name is doubtless derived from Huntercombe (O).
