Etymology

This has commonly been identified with Tyler's Green in Penn, but in the Pipe Roll of 1163 it is associated with Cippenham and this association is confirmed by the grant of the meadow of Dillepol with other lands belonging to the manor of Cippenham to Burnham Abbey in 1266 (Dugdale, Monasticon , vi. 546). v. Baring, Domesday Tables 132. It is clear that a wood and a pool in Cippenham must have been named from the same man. The exact form of his name is uncertain.
