Etymology

'Sc(e)obba's farm' v. ingtun . The name Sc (e )obba may be safely inferred from Scobbanora (BCS 932), scheobanwerzthe (ib. 438) and scobban byrigels (KCD 673). The modern form shows unrounding of the vowel. v. Introd. xxxiii.
