Etymology

'Hrafn's farm,' the name being probably of Scand. origin, though the existence of names like Raveningham (Nf) makes it possible that we should carry the name back further and believe that it may also be from OE  *Hræfn . For the sound-develop- ment cf. Ranskill (Nt).
