Etymology

OE  Ædding -grāf (a ), 'Æddi's grove,' v. graf(a), with the same use of-ing - as in-ingtun . In modern times [ɑˑd(ə)ngrouv] has become [ɑˑngrouv] by assimilation of dn to n (Introd. xxiii).v. Adstock and Addington supra .
