Etymology

OE  hogg-sceaga , 'hog-wood,' and cf. Evershaw supra , or perhaps, as it is so near Hoggeston (v. supra ), 'Hogg's wood.'v. sceaga . The Knights Hospitallers had view of frankpledge in Hogshaw (RH i. 24).
