Etymology

'Farm of Doda or Duda' v. ingtun . The a in one or two of the forms is significant of the change from [u ] to [ʌ] in the pronunciation. The forms from the Lincoln Registers show how complete was the confusion of forms between this place- name and the not very distant Dinton. v. infra .
