Etymology

The second element is eg, for Dorney is practically surrounded by water. Dorn may be the name of one of these streams. Cf. Dorne as a river-name in Oxfordshire and Dorne (Wo), Dorene in BCS 1135, though the position of the latter does not favour derivation frpm a lost river-name.
