Historical Forms

  • Harnage 1541 L.i.135 1607 VCH 1739 L.i.135

Etymology

There are not many forms to go upon and those are late but as the farm lies on the bounds of Chilton parish, with the ground falling away to the valley below it may be suggested that it is from OE  hāran ecge (dat.), 'boundary edge.' v. har .
