Etymology

'Æddi's farm' v. ingtun . Æddi is probably the same person who gave his name to the neighbouring parish of Adstock.Cf. also Addingrove infra . The name Æddi is recorded early, the best known bearer of the name being Æddi Stephanus, the biographer of St Wilfrid.
