Etymology

Bulmershe Court, Buleneirs (bis )c. 1180 HMC Var Coll I, Bulmerssh 1412 FA, Bulmershe Courte 1596PubLibDoc , Bulmersh 1607RentSur , Bulmarsh 1658PubLib , Bulmarsh Heath 1761 Rocque, Bulmarsh Park 1840TA , Bulmershe , Bullmershe Court , Bullmershe Court Fm 1846 Snare. The first el. is bula 'bull'. The second is probably mersc 'marsh', in spite of the earliest form. It should, however, be noted that the manor is referred to as the 'manor of Belvershale called Bulnassh ' in 1448 Cl, and the form from HMC Var Coll could possibly be a misreading for Buleueirs , which might give the first part of the name Belvershale . It is perhaps improbable that the place should have two distinct names which resemble each other in this way, and both the forms given 1448 Cl should probably be disregarded.
