Worley's Fm
Early-attested site in the Parish of Wargrave
Historical Forms
- Worsley Fm 1846 Snare
Etymology
Worley's Fm (Worsley Fm 1846 Snare); in 1286–7FF there is mention of land in Horleye owned by Will. le Hore de Kylham . If Horleye be an early form for Worley's Fm (which is quite near Culham), the name would appear to be identical with Wharley BdHu 69, from horu 'dirt' and lē(a)h 'clearing'. The similarity of the surname is probably coincidental.
